What is unique about our program is that we do not stop this wonderful experience after the summer is over. We take a longitudinal approach to our program. This means that our support service and programming is not a one time shot but that we are here for the students over the long term. We introduce the idea of family, the Paintrock family, as the support mechanism these students can count on.

After completion of the summer camp, the Paintrock Canyon Program initiates follow-up programming. The program continues to work over the next four years towards keeping the students motivated and on course for higher education and personal success. We plan educational outings, aid them in setting focused goals, participate in community service projects, provide assistance in finding tutorial services, college counseling, peer support, mentorship and assistance in securing financial aid for higher education

Throughout the four-year program, we present the students with mental and physical challenges in an atmosphere where they can succeed. This success plays an instrumental role in helping them overcome fears and supports the building of the self-confidence they will need to navigate the rough waters they will face in high school. We help them to bridge differences in an effort to work towards achieving common goals and help them to work to create a beloved community from often very different cultural and social backgrounds. Ultimately, the camp and four-year follow-up program, offer a time and place for these youth to get away from the complexities of living in Los Angeles, an opportunity to come together in new ways and a space where learning and fun can dance together.
